the titus factor

The Power of Us

I was brought up in a loving Christian home. From when I was 8 years old, my parents were both passionate for Jesus and committed to bringing me up in the things of God. Before this time my father was a violent alcohoic and my mother suffered from severe depression.

My parents became pastors as I turned into the teenage chapter of life and they continue to this day to serve in South Wales.

I am vividly aware of converstations and attitudes that have led me to understand that, for most of my life, I have been directed to believe that leadership is a lonely place; no one can be trusted and friendship is scarce. I have noticed a real persuasion that leadership is a walk that is defensive and a web of avoiding pain. I have seen the cost and sacrifice that leadership, done in an isolated way, can damage those involved.

Miraculously, however, I do not carry the same paradigm. I consider leadership to be an absolute joy, a roller coaster of excitement and adrenaline and an adventure of the highest extreme.

Serving Jesus in this capacity is a phenomenal thing that Becky, our boys and myself thrive on.

A recent award winning fim 'into the wild' (please watch it!) shows the journey of a young man coming to the conclusion that happiness is best when shared!

I enjoy leadership because of the Titus Factor.

Titus means 'partner or fellow worker'.

I enjoy leadership because I believe in:

The investment into relationship. Let me encourage you that friendships and relationships are best developed if you give the most precious assest that you have - YOU. It is impossible to establish great relationships without throwing yourself wholly in. Please stop trying to protect yourself from 'being hurt'. Life is too short to do it alone. Relationships cause it to count for SO much more.

Doing life together. I am committed to this principle of doing life together. I am committed to the long haul. I am committed to seeing myself not as a person in position but one who is simply being followed. This means that people are on the same journey as I am. So we had best spend it together and enjoy it. Do LIFE with people that are on the same journey - it makes the valleys easier and the highs more fun. Together we can see SO much more.

Team. It really isn't all about me. As a leader, if I'm using my brain, I need people around me who are better, bigger, louder, quieter, smarter, shrewder, more anointed, different, funnier and brighter than me. I know that God has called me to lead so if they are called to be with me, they will follow me. I must release as much as I can to them, empower them and see them fly. Together we can do SO much more.

Trust. I choose to trust. Trust comes from a Love dynamic. Trust comes from a Hope dynamic. Trust comes from a Faith dynamic. I choose to trust. If God can entrust His people to our care, the least we can do is trust Him and His people with our lives. Trust allows us to be SO much more.

The Titus Factor. Build it into your life. Build something awesome for God!
